| Describe Your Life in Six Words |
|
"Not Quite What I Was Planning." Six-word memoirs from Smith Magazine.
Read this book and devoured it. Writing six word sentences ever since.
Love the idea; short and sweet. Gets to the point right now. No excess blah blah blah - blah. Perfect for time of paring down. Inspiring, touching, devastating, powerful, honest, real. Famous writers, everyday people, true feelings. We want to hear your story. |

Tamara Alter is determined to make the words "ovarian cancer" obsolete, and is launching the High Heals Foundation on March 23 to raise awareness and generate much-needed research funds for early diagnosis of this devastating disease which kills more than 16,000 women annually.
The public introduction of the Foundation will take place on what would have been the 45th birthday of Stefanie Dawn Strauss, Tamara's sister, who passed away from ovarian cancer in 2006.
If you can't make it to the Neiman-Marcus event in San Diego, visit Tamara's website where one hundred percent of the proceeds from the award-winning jewelry designer's "Healing Hearts" collection will go to the Foundation.
Because the heart was Stefanie's favorite symbol, Tamara has designed one-of-a-kind heart-based bracelets and necklaces using sterling silver, 18-carat gold, diamonds and other precious stones, including teal topaz. Buying one of these is truly a gift of the heart. |

| Showcasing Our Showcasers |
| Big News! By popular demand, we've just added blogs to our Showcase section. Check them out, add your own blog, and invite your favorite bloggers to join us!
We're so honored to have had the inspiring Christine Mason Miller as one of our original Showcasers and are delighted she's adding her work to our new Blog section now, too.
You may know Christine as the creator of Swirly, but her art has expanded in so many new directions. Whether she's working in acrylics or oil paints, or incorporating vintage photographs and other ephemera, her pieces are always rich, expressive and uplifting.
Christine recently published "Ordinary Sparkling Moments," a gorgeous book that combines her mixed media collage, photography and writing in one must-have volume. What makes it such a treasure - other than the artwork itself - is the way Christine explores the world around her, acknowledges and overcomes the dark moments and celebrates the little joys of everyday life.

| Sloane Crosley knows how to put words together.
will make you laugh out loud and gasp in recognition.
We cringed when Sloane charitably agreed to be a bridesmaid for someone she barely remembered from high school, and when guilt convinced her to volunteer at the Museum of Natural History's butterfly exhibit. We were relieved we weren't the only ones who had been suckered into situations like this, and appreciative that she could so eloquently express exactly how we felt.

Word Games
We've gone through stages of crossword puzzle addiction, Scrabble addiction and even Boggle addiction. We just love word games!
Well, we've discovered that even if no one else is home, we can find people to play a Boggle-inspired game online or a solo version of Scrabble. But our best find has been Discovery Education's Puzzlemaker, where we can actually make our own crosswords, word searches and cryptograms. This is a great site for teachers, parents and anyone who likes to have the last word.
